Planting time in the garden

We had lots of fun planting the wonderful Zealandia plants we received as part of the Tui Schools Grow off competition.

Gaden club has started on Tuesdays at lunchtime.

We had a working bee on the weekend at the beginning of August where the Mokes helped us turn over the soil and add all that wonderful Tui compost as well as emptying the school compost bins, worm farm and copious amounts of blood and bone.

Malaysia comes to visit us.

We borrowed Malaysia for a wee visit to our class. It was awesome to see how much the children remembered from last years Roots of Empathy programme. Malaysia loves listening to us sing and will copy us as we show her how to pakipaki.

Robot making

Look what you can do with an old dvd player, some creativity and a few friends.

Technology fun

We have had several class technology challenges. Here are some photos of some of them.

New Computers

Room 12 has been lucky to have some computers donated from the Department of Internal Affairs. We have set them to good use and the children have been learning to set them up once they have had the school operating system installed. Sharron and Maree have been fantastic in helping us do this. A big thanks to the Department of Internal Affairs. We really appreciate this donation, publishing our work is now achievable.

Captain Barnacle's Adventure

Room 12 of Koraunui School have been visited by the famous author: Paul McNamee. He has been reading his true story to us for at least a month or so.His story has enlightened our class with understanding how pirates had to live back in the 1800’s.He has even let us have a treasure hunt for a mysterious bottle that was found by: Jayden T ,beside a massive rock the size of 1 whole classroom, at Mahina Bay.The bottle is no ordinary,Coke bottle but is a fragile,shell-covered,piece of 200 year old art.It contained:1 weird coloured rock,2 pieces of marmite-smelling,coffee-stained,extremely old paper and 1 piece of cloth that was helping the wax stay on tight. The wax was a mix of chrome and bronze. We all thank Paul for coming and sharing his story with us.
