We started our swimming sessions at SV pool today. The instructors were getting a feel for their groups and moving a few children around. We walked down with our buddy class, Room 9 and had lunch at the park on our way back. All good fun and lots of learning too!
We are a Year Four, Five and Six class. Our blog enables our families to see some of what we are doing and share in our learning journey at Koraunui School. We also have many links to learning games and activities.

Using positive and negative space in art
We looked on the internet at some photos of Saint Basil's cathedral in Russia. This is an amazing building with many turrets and spires. We drew pictures of the cathedral and then used black pens to define the lines. We made some pretty cool art today.
Class treaty
We borrowed the cogs from the middle syndicate and Mrs C gave us a challenge to use every piece to make a woking model. We talked about what we had to do to make this work. Some of the qualities we had to use to be successful were the same as the ideas we put forward to make a happy, fun and successful classroom. These included taking turns, participating, supporting each other and being involved. Mrs C then stuck a pencil in the cogs and they stopped working. We talked about the things that would stop us working together as a class, bullying, trying to make others do things out way, giving up. These things were the disconnecting habits that we all use sometimes. We have our class treaty displayued on cogs to remind us to work together to achieve our goals.

2011, A new year begins
Welcome back to our class blog. We have had a great start to the school year. The Year 5's and 6's have welcomed the Year 4's and begun to show them the routines we have in our class. We have begun to develop our class treaty and we have a shared understanding of what we want our classroom to look and feel like. The children came up with some great ideas of what we each need to do to make our classroom a happy, fun and safe learning place.
- Support each other
- Take turns
- Never give up
- Take your time and don't rush
- Always do the best you can do
- Take party in your group, participate
- Be involved, work with everybody
- Be cheerful
- Try everything
- Be encouraging to yourself and other
- What a great list. With this, we are looking forward to a fantastic year together.
