Competition hots up with Room 14

Each day this week we have been playing 'nukem' against Room 14. We are improving our skills and having a whole lot of fun at the same time.

The great recycled postcard project.

We have been writing postcards to other school in the Greater Wellington region this week. We are sending them messages about the different ways we care for our environment at Koraunui School.

Dental clinic opening

The new dental clinic has opened at last. We had a great time celebrating this and the children came up with some really creative costumes.

FAmily Projects for the holidays

Family Projects for the Holidays
With the school holidays approaching you may be starting to think about ideas for fun and cost-effective things to do. Here are a few to get you started:

* 'Restaurant night' at home- if they're old enough the kids can cook, but if not they can name the restaurant, make menus, and be waiters with French accents. Encourage the chef to try something new.
* Focus on working your way through a very special book that there isn't time for during term. There are so many old classics that children love to have read to them or attempt for themselves.
* Design and create something crafty, arty, or just plain crazy using mostly materials you already have at home. Be ambitious, and invite everyone's input.

The best thing about these ideas is that even parents who work full-time can be involved when they get home. Bringing everyone together is a good way to show our kids what we believe – that Family is Everything.

School swimming sports

We had a wonderful afternoon with the whole school at Stokes Valley Pool. We were able to show many of our parents the huge improvements in our swimming.

School assembly

We were finally able to show our awesome self portraits at assembly on Thursday. We used four different techniques for these, pop art, fauvism, pontillism and impressionism. Everyone has worked extremely hard to create some stunning work. Sadly, Whaea KAtaraina didn't catch a photo of the finished items.
