Making a geodesic dome

We made all the paper rolls for a geodesic dome, yesterday.  Today we are hoping to build it.

Our first piece of learning is that we should have marked all the shorts as short and longs as long.  We had lots of measurement practice.

Next job was to lay out a decihedron  using 10 longs.

So far, so good.  Add alternating pairs of longs and shorts at each join.  Tape securely.

What a great looking star.  Now, attach one short between each point.  This calls for LOTS of TEAMWORK and maths.P9020025 P9020031 P9020027

Tape securely.  It starts to come together.

Now it gets really tricky to hold the pieces in place.  We had to get creative.

We didn’t finish it yet.  Good things take time.  More on Monday.  We have done a pretty awesome job so far though.
